I came back to college partly to realize my life-long dream of earning a degree, but also to set a positive example for my grandchildren as my daughter did when she returned to school. Now, not only am I realizing my dreams, I also am doing so with my daughter by my side. We will be walking together in this year’s commencement ceremony, and I can’t even begin to express the pride I have in myself and in my daughter for our accomplishments. I am proud to be an alumna of SUNY Empire State College.
My passion has always revolved around helping others as evidenced by my 28-year career with the Office of Children and Family Services. I plan to use my degree to work with Alzheimer patients or young people with disabilities. I also hope to marry my love of art and music with my human services degree by incorporating courses on art and music therapy. That’s what I love about SUNY Empire State College. It allows me to customize my degree plan so that it makes the most sense for me and my goals.
