After completing my high school education in Mexico, I decided to come back to the United States to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Since I was in charge of paying for my education, I first decided to go to community college to save money. After I obtained my associate’s degree in science, I went to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to continue with my education.

After graduation, I will be working for Uniform Color Company in Holland, Michigan in the research and development department. This opportunity will allow me to grow in my professional career by combining my background in mechanical engineering with materials science. I plan to advocate for sustainable manufacturing involving plastics.

Education is something that I highly value, I got this ideology from my parents. My grandfather, a farmer, had 13 kids and only 3 went to college, one of them was my father. This was a huge accomplishment. My father did everything to provide us with the best education. I have also sacrificed a lot to complete my bachelor’s degree, for example, leaving my family and friends behind to work two jobs to pay for my education and living expenses, while being a full-time student.
