Minor: Public Relations
Graduation Date: April 28, 2018

I transferred to UAB after moving from my hometown in the suburbs of Los Angeles. My partner grew up in Birmingham and had the opportunity for a great job here in Alabama, so we excitedly took the cross-country leap. Through that move, I was able to transfer to UAB and am now proud to be the first in my family to graduate from a four-year university.

A college degree is a major accomplishment for me. As a first-generation college student, I wasn’t fortunate enough to have a family who pushed me to pursue higher education. At sixteen, while my friends were receiving college acceptance letters and declaring majors, I was urged to enter the workforce with whatever job I could get. But I was determined to complete the first of many important life goals. And now that I’m on my way to graduation, I am proud to have persevered through the many twist and turns of life.

I plan to hit the ground running post-graduation and am seeking work in corporate PR or an agency. I am excited to bring my experience and education to a new team and look forward to soaking up as much as I can as an emerging professional. My hope is to pursue Accreditation in Public Relations within the next few years, so I hope to build a great portfolio of experience in the meantime.
