Major: Sociology and Applied Learning and Development (Youth and Community Studies)
Graduation Date: May 18, 2018
Not Counted Because: Started Part-Time (Co-Enrolled)
Note: Deja was co-enrolled in two institutions during her first year as part of a sanctioned program. The result is that she is considered part-time at both institutions and does not count in the federal graduation rate.
After graduation, I will attend graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin to pursue a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy. A college degree is more than just a sheet of paper — it’s a key that will open many doors in my future. It tells the world I have persevered in the face of adversity, achieved the goals I set for myself, and reached the top of the mountain. While this degree will have my name on it, it does not belong solely to me. It belongs to the people who supported me — those who helped me discovered my passions, who picked me up when I was down, and who offered encouraging words when I needed them most.
