Major: Nursing
Graduation Date: May 12, 2016
Not Counted Because: Transferred; Started Part-Time

I had my first child while in high school and at the time, my only goal was to graduate from high school. Once I graduated, I started to think about how I would balance college and motherhood. I enrolled at a nearby college and took classes on and off. I knew I could earn my bachelor’s degree; it might just take some time. In 2013 I enrolled in IU Northwest, thankful that my previously earned credits transferred. I started my journey to earn my bachelor of science in nursing.

Through my clinical rotation, I’ve become particularly interested in the labor and delivery floor, which has been a great hands-on experience. I have made many connections with the hospital’s nurses and doctors and have recently applied to be an L&D nurse. I’ve also recently contemplated continuing my education by working toward a master’s degree in family practice or nurse practitioner. I am weighing my options now and soon will be making the right decision for me, and my growing family!
