Babacar Ndiaye, University of South Florida

Posted on

Major: International Relations
Graduation Date: May 4, 2018
Not Counted Because: Transferred; Started Part-Time

I had not been in a classroom in 22 years when I enrolled part-time at community, taking three classes. By my second semester, I was enrolled full-time and earned an associate’s degree before transferring to the University of South Florida.    After graduation, I will pursue a master of political science at the University of South Florida. Ultimately, I would like to work in Senegal for an NGO.

It means a whole lot to graduate as it took me over two decades to go back to school. I was schooled in French and had to adapt very quickly to a completely different setting. Regardless, I graduated in exactly four years and four months, from start to finish while working full-time. Earning my degree is an accomplishment of a long delayed goal and in defiance of many odds, one of them being age.  I should graduate summa cum laude and look forward to continuing my education.
