The Student Achievement Measure is supported by six sponsoring associations, working together to provide a more comprehensive and accurate picture of student progress and completion as students move across institutions and state boundaries.
California State University-Los Angeles
Founded in 1947, Cal State LA is the premier public comprehensive university in the heart of Los Angeles. More than 27,000 students and more than 240,000 alumni – with a wide range of interests, ages and backgrounds – reflect the region’s dynamic mix of populations. Cal State LA provides a transformative educational experience for students. Approximately 60 percent of them are the first in their families to attend college. The University has eight colleges that are recognized for outstanding academic programs and professors who are accomplished mentors and researchers. Cal State LA features top programs in criminalistics, engineering, nursing and science. The National Science Foundation lists Cal State LA as the top baccalaureate institution of origin for Latino science and engineering Ph.D. recipients among all undergraduate and master’s colleges and universities in the continental U.S. Cal State LA also has a hydrogen research and fueling facility that is at the forefront of California’s effort to become a national leader in the use of zero-emission vehicles. The facility recently became the first in the world to sell hydrogen by the kilogram to members of the public who operate fuel cell electrical vehicles. The University’s Hertzberg-Davis Forensic Science Center is the largest municipal, regional collaborative crime center in the U.S. and home to respected criminalistics programs. This state-of-the-art facility is where “CSI” meets real-life police forensics and university academics. Cal State L.A. is also home to the critically-acclaimed Luckman Jazz Orchestra and to an Honors College for high-achieving students. Other University facilities—including the Wallis Annenberg Integrated Sciences Complex, and a television, film and media studies center—provide students with access to the tools, technology and resources needed to become the innovative leaders for tomorrow.Fall 2009 First-time Full-time Cohort
