Stony Brook University
Stony Brook University boasts the advantages of a highly ranked major university — excellence in education, an active research environment, and an outstanding university teaching hospital — with one of the lowest tuitions in the country. Stony Brook’s 1,100-acre main campus with an additional location in Southampton is home to over 26,000 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students and almost 15,000 faculty and staff. The University houses over 60 undergraduate majors and over 80 minors. Ninety-eight percent of tenured and tenure-track faculty hold doctoral degrees or the highest degrees in their fields, and collectively the faculty have developed over 2,300 inventions and hold over 700 patents. Stony Brook was ranked #3 in the country by the Stanford Center for Poverty and Inequality for advancing the social mobility of its students, and #1 among highly selective institutions.
