Coastal Carolina University was founded in 1954 by a group of local community members determined to improve the educational, economic, and cultural capacities of the region. Throughout its history, the University has maintained a close, reciprocal relationship with the surrounding area which over the years has changed from a primarily agricultural region to a major Atlantic coast resort. For 30 years the University was a branch campus of the University of South Carolina (USC), and has flourished since separating from the USC system in 1993.Fall 2017 First-time Full-time Cohort
