USF St. Peterbsurg became a separately accredited institution in 2006 and will soon celebrate 50 years on Bayboro Harbor in downtown St. Petersburg having started as a branch campus of the University of South Florida in 1965. USFSP offers distinctive undergraduate and graduate courses in the Arts and Sciences (the Journalism program is accredited by ACEJMC), Education (the program is accredited by NCATE), and Business (Business and Accounting are accredited by AACSB).
